On Saturday, November 17, 2018, we held our first annual, “Nyam Bai”, Cambodian Dinner Fundraiser in Pierrefonds, Quebec near Montreal. 87 guests enjoyed a delicious traditional Cambodian 3-course dinner cooked by Chef Isabelle Carrier. Many people from Montreal’s Khmer community came out to lend their support. Special guest, Kim Routhier-Filion told his personal story of being rescued from the Khmer rouge by 2 young women from Canada in 1975; Anna and Eloise Charet. It was an honour to have Anna Charet in attendance! Thanks to the generosity of guests and donors, funds were raised to increase the hourly wage of BrightStart’s 24 Khmer teachers. We all look forward to our next Nyam Bai fundraiser event coming in November 2019.
