educational opportunities and tutoring

Apprentissage BrightStart assists with the learning needs of children in various locations throughout Battambang. These programs offer an opportunity for children to excel and advance in their education. BrightStart's programs provide tutoring in subjects such as Khmer, Math, Chemistry and Science.

PRIVATE education

Apprentissage BrightStart provides scholarships to outstanding children to attend Dewey International School in Battambang, Cambodia (above). Students may also move to Phnom Penh to attend Beltei International School.

ENGLISH PROGRAMS

Our Khmer staff as well Canadian or American interns provide several levels of English instruction. English is rapidly becoming Cambodia's language of commerce; many university classes are given exclusively in English. Our programs offer English instruction ranging from preschool language exposure to college-level English Immersion classes.

GRADE 12 GRADUATION PREPARATION

In Cambodia, the grade 12 final exam is the pinnacle of a student's learning. Apprentissage BrightStart has a program created specifically to prepare students for this milestone. It is being offered to the children of Battambang and surrounding communities.

MUSIC PROGRAM

In 2013, we were excited to launch a music program. with an introduction to music classes, lessons in guitar, drums and piano, this program quickly became popular among the students. They were given opportunities to play in band ensembles and to learn music composition. Started by two of our interns, this program has been continued by our talented Khmer music teacher.

rural education

Bright start has reached out to rural areas to provide a better education for children and adults.  Small villages offer education to a maximum level of grade 9, after which time, students work on their family farms.  Brightstart's scholarship home will provide the opportunity for some exceptional rural students to continue their education in the city of Battambang.
